Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic
MEI Senior Surveyor
to contribute to the
Net Zero Teesside
(NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Assist with the leadership of survey operations within the mechanical remit of works with a team of surveyors to deliver the survey requirements across the construction lifecycle. Allocate, and oversee survey tasks, ensure technical accuracy, maintain equipment and data integrity, and collaborate closely with the Survey Managers, Senior Surveyors, and their equivalent discipline leads.

• Lead and support a section of the survey team, ensuring safe working, high-quality delivery, and effective day-to-day performance
• Plan, prioritise, and coordinate survey activities and resources to meet programme requirements
• Act as one of the technical leads for MEI/MEP survey works, developing methodologies and providing solutions to complex or first-of-type activities
• Maintain a strong understanding of mechanical installation processes, ensuring survey requirements are identified, planned, and prepared in advance
• Attend site for complex, critical, or high-risk activities, providing oversight, guidance, and practical demonstrations where required
• Review and validate survey work completed by surveyors, ensuring consistency, compliance, and adherence to agreed standards and tolerances
• Produce, check, and approve survey deliverables, including setting out data, models, drawings, reports, and as-built information
• Carry out independent verification checks and support quality assurance through design reviews and survey data control
• Manage survey equipment, ensuring compliance with inspection, calibration, maintenance, storage, and defect reporting requirements
• Lead the development and mentoring of surveyors through coaching, training, and on-site demonstrations of best practice
• Contribute to RAMS, daily briefings, hazard identification, and the promotion of a strong safety culture
• Escalate significant risks, issues, and resource constraints to the Engineering Survey Manager and coordinate with other disciplines to support project delivery
• Ensure survey records, verification evidence, and as-built information are maintained in a handover-ready state
• Coordinate survey requirements with construction, engineering, quality, and commissioning teams to support efficient project delivery

The following experience/qualifications are essential:

• Previous experience in surveying, with strong exposure to mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, engineering environments
• Experience delivering surveys in construction settings, with good understanding of site processes and tolerances
• Proficient in IT applications and survey-specific software (e.g. 3DR, N4CE, Infinity, Site Scan, Star Net)
• Knowledge of settlement monitoring systems, methodologies, and associated technologies
• Understanding of geodetic principles and requirements for construction project delivery
• Familiarity with modern survey equipment, GNSS networks, and emerging survey technologies
