Assistant Accountant

My client is looking for an ambitious Assistant Accountant who's ready to step into a broad, developmental role within a highly experienced finance team. This position is ideal for someone who wants to continue progressing their career, gain more responsibility with assisting with the management accounts preparation, financial reporting, and analysis, and work closely with senior finance leaders who will support that growth.
About the Finance Team You'll join a well‑structured, collaborative finance function made up of:

Finance Director
Deputy Finance Director
Finance Manager x 2
Assistant Accountant
Finance Assistant - Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger & general finance

Your new role
You will work closely with the Finance Managers, supporting them across a range of analytical and accounting activities.

What You'll Be Doing
A great opportunity for someone looking to progress into a future Analyst, Assistant Management Accountant, or Management Accountant role.

Key responsibilities include:

Producing advanced Excel-based financial reports, models, and analysis
Supporting monthly management accounts preparation
Assisting in the creation of the monthly MI reporting pack
Preparing and reviewing profit & loss reports
Supporting budgeting and variance analysis
Assisting senior finance managers on ad‑hoc reporting and continuous improvement projects
Helping ensure smooth month‑end processes and supporting the wider finance function

What you'll need to succeed
Someone hungry to progress and build their finance career

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups; Power Query/Power BI a bonus)
Confident with numbers and comfortable analysing data
Prior experience in a finance or accounts role
Studying - or keen to study - AAT, CIMA, or ACCA
