Responder, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

The Reach & Respond service operates on a 24/7 basis and supports over 7500 vulnerable people to remain living independently and safely in their own home. We are looking to recruit someone for this 37-hour permanent post, including standbys in Redcar.

Working on a 5-week rota, you will work 7 standbys, alongside a 24-hour working week. Weekends are worked from your own home. You'll need a strong desire to support your team, and where possible be flexible covering additional hours/standby's when required. Another benefit is that the position is worked from home until you are called out when on standby and you'll have full use of a fully equipped fleet vehicle.

Standbys are paid at an excellent rate plus an additional call out fee per call out with any mileage paid extra. Mileage is paid at a rate of 55p per mile.

The right candidate will be able to build strong colleague and customer relationships and be solution focused as you will be part of a team which makes a difference on a daily basis.

You will work with your own small circle of vulnerable customers in the local community, supporting them to live happy, independent lives by providing emergency response visits, installing assistive technology and equipment, advice and information, companionship (having a cup of tea and a natter!), plus many more tasks.

We are open to this role being part time or a job share.

You will need to have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, using your initiative and building strong relationships across the service area and with partner organisations. You will also need to be able to:

• Use your own initiative
• Exercise a high degree of flexibility
• Demonstrate you are computer literate
• Use your strong communication and interpersonal skills within the role
• Provide a full driving licence.
• Have use of your own car
