Project Manager, Operations Manager, Program ​/ Project Manager

Location: Redcar and Cleveland

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major Civils & Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) package on a high-profile infrastructure project.

This is a 12–18 month contract opportunity, offering a strong day rate and the chance to manage a technically challenging and high-value package.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, commercial, and programme-led delivery of civils and HDD works from mobilisation through to completion.

You will oversee site operations, manage engineering and subcontract teams, and ensure works are delivered in line with contractual and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Full management of the Civils & HDD package

* Lead site teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors

* Drive programme performance and short-term planning

* Oversee RAMS, ITPs, WPPs, and technical documentation

* Ensure strict HSEQ compliance across all works

* Manage commercial performance, variations, and forecasting

* Interface with design teams and client representatives

* Provide accurate reporting on progress, risks, and cost

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Project Manager on heavy civils projects

* Strong background in HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling)

* Experience managing large-value subcontract packages

* Good understanding of NEC contracts

* Strong commercial awareness and reporting capability

* SMSTS, CSCS Black Card
