Overview

The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. The area provides outdoor amenities and activities with miles of hiking and biking trails, national parks, two lakes, and the Sacramento River. The main campus is located in the city of Redding. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day student success strategies and services designed to improve retention, completion, graduation, and/or transfer rates.
  • Align the college’s structured onboarding, early alert, and retention strategies with interventions and resources to help students enter their educational and career pathway, stay on track, and persist and progress toward completion.
  • With direction from college-wide leadership, faculty, and classified teams, utilize data-tracking systems and student support services and cohorts to drive student success.
  • Direct, oversee, coordinate, and review the work of student assistants and other office support staff as needed.
  • Provide high-level office support functions requiring initiative, problem solving, and independent judgment in organization, coordination, and processing of work and information.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of District policies and procedures and excellent communication skills.
  • Support the PACE (Partners in Access to College Education) department by guiding students through the PACE application process, gathering and processing documentation from medical providers, coordinating outreach with high schools and the community, and assisting with process and database development. Some evening hours and travel off campus may be required.
Qualifications
  • Education Required:
    Associates degree or equivalent.
  • Education Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience Required:
    Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students, as well as staff and students with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • Desirable Experience:
    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills; typical experience is two years of increasingly responsible experience performing duties related to the role.
