Overview
Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer s position involves leading the development of Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), control narratives, specifications, network drawings, panel drawings, and instrument selection. You’ll coordinate with other engineering disciplines for a cohesive design and contribute to the growth of team members. As part of the California team, you’ll work on projects that address water challenges for municipal clients locally and worldwide, with access to the company s resources and opportunities in Design-Build projects.
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience; discuss with your recruiter for more details.
Responsibilities- Lead the development of P&IDs, control narratives, specifications, network drawings, panel drawings, and instrument selection.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for cohesive design.
- Contribute to the development and growth of people (e.g., mentoring junior engineers) domestically and globally.
- Develop control system software in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and perform facility startups and commissioning activities.
- Review construction submittals, conduct site evaluations, and make recommendations for control system upgrades.
- Communicate with clients and management regarding design decisions and project status.
- Review instrumentation and control systems for projects in water infrastructure with a focus on safety and reliability.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within one year.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in I&C systems integration design.
- Experience with P&t, I/O lists, instrumentation selection, control panel layout and wiring, detailed loop wiring diagrams, and PLC equipment lists.
- Knowledge of DCS systems and IT/OT best practices (NIST-800, ISA/IEC 62443 OT).
- Experience with industrial networks (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, etc.).
- Ability to mentor, train, and delegate work domestically and abroad.
- Ability to work outside normal work hours to coordinate with global team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Water infrastructure Instrumentation & Controls Systems design experience.
- Experience with PLCs and HMI programming software.
- Experience developing scope, fee, and schedule for I&C and Control System projects.
