Senior Electrical Engineer – Water & Wastewater
As a Senior Electrical Engineer based out of Redding or Sacramento, CA, you will prepare detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision. You will work with project managers and design staff, including cost estimators and drafters, to provide quality work on schedule and within budget. You will engage with teams across the globe to deliver solutions to our clients.
PayRange
Base pay: $132,900 – $207,650 per year.
Responsibilities- Design electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
- Prepare contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Electrical systems include low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries.
- Apply knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, codes, and guidelines.
- Engage in several assignments simultaneously.
- Develop basis of design reports, One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations, and coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services.
- Utilize lighting software to perform calculations and provide photometrics.
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash; sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.
- Conduct quality control and quality assurance of electrical plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Perform field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
- Provide construction support: submittal reviews, RFI responses, change order review, and record drawing preparation.
- Assist with pursuits and proposals.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivate and work productively without supervision.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the water industry electrical engineering role.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Proficiency with AGi
32 or Visual Lighting Software. - Proficiency with SKM or ETAP.
- Experience with permitting review agencies.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820.
- Familiarity with IEEE color book series.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective interface with all levels of personnel and management.
- Work in a team environment.
- Self‑motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment projects via design‑bid‑build, design‑build, or other delivery methods.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
- Knowledge of Revit MEP.
- Knowledge of Title 24 compliance for electrical distribution and lighting.
- Field investigative and startup experience.
