Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Environmental Planner to support planning and environmental compliance for municipal infrastructure and community development projects. This role focuses on ensuring city-led initiatives meet environmental regulations while promoting sustainable growth and resilience. Reporting to the Redding, CA office, 2/3 days a week is required
.
$90,000.00/yr - $/yr
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and manage environmental documentation for city projects in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and local ordinances.
- Support planning and permitting for municipal infrastructure such as roads, parks, public buildings, and water/wastewater systems.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and mitigation planning.
- Coordinate with city departments, regional agencies, and the public to ensure transparent and compliant project development.
- Review development proposals for environmental consistency with city plans and policies.
- Assist in grant applications and reporting for environmentally focused funding opportunities.
- Bachelor s degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in environmental planning, preferably in a municipal or public sector setting.
- Strong working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and California environmental regulations.
- Experience with public engagement and interagency coordination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in GIS and environmental modeling tools is a plus.
- Experience with stormwater management, habitat conservation, and climate adaptation strategies.
- Ability to interpret and apply local zoning and land use regulations.
- Knowledge of grant writing and funding mechanisms for public infrastructure.
