American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry unit position requiring 2-3 years of specialty experience and a CA RN license.
Requirements- Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- COVID vaccine required
- 2-3 years of specialty experience required
- Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Work in the Neuro Tele 4
West unit of an acute care hospital with 22 beds - Level 2 Trauma Center setting
- Patient population includes stroke, TIA, seizure, TBI, and mixed med tele cases
- Patient ratio of 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Central Telemetry Monitoring with GE Apex Telemetry boxes supported by 2 Monitor Techs
- Nurses are not required to titrate drips but must read and interpret telemetry strips
- Respiratory equipment on unit includes BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC (no ventilators)
- 12-hour day shifts scheduled 6:45-7:15
- Self-scheduling by seniority with schedules made about 3 weeks in advance
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat/Sun for days)
- No call or standby requirements
- First to float, with floating to IMCU (2
West) or Med/Surg departments - Participate in Bedside Shift Report with a strong focus on patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core measures, particularly stroke measures
- Unit staffing includes one Nurse Shift Manager and one Resource/Break RN who do not take patient assignments
- 1-2 Unit Aides support the nursing team
- Unit is typically at full capacity of 22 patients and is very fast-paced
- Holiday coverage required as part of the permanent staff rotation
- Navy scrub color required
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
