American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level II trauma hospital, requiring 2-3 years of specialty experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details- Acute care Med Surg unit with 30 beds
- Patient population includes medical and post-op/surgical patients
- Patient ratio of 1 to 5
- Cerner EMR used
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45pm-7:15am, every other weekend
- 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule
- First to float, including to telemetry at a 1:4 ratio or between Med Surg floors
- No ventilator or IV team responsibilities on this unit
- Hospitalist coverage 24/7, with RT and pharmacy also available 24/7
- Portable telemetry box available if needed; monitor tech support provided
- One shift of floor-specific orientation provided
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS certification required
- COVID vaccine required
- 2-3 years of Med Surg specialty experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Charge nurse serves as clinical supervisor, provides break relief, and does not take a patient assignment
- Nurse aide support includes 2 on days and 1 on nights
- Navy scrub color required
- Holiday coverage follows the permanent staff rotation schedule
- Holiday RTO will be considered but cannot be guaranteed
- Must be a team player
- Candidates must not have been directly employed by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
