Overview

Sorter/Donation Processor role at The Salvation Army Southern California. The purpose of this position is to prepare donations for retail sale or salvage according to Salvation Army policy and production procedures.

• Follow procedure as it pertains to sorting, cleaning, preparing, shipping and receiving donated items for sale
• Keep donation area clean and free of debris
• Sort donations of clothing, furniture, electrical and miscellaneous household items
• Load donations for truck delivery
• Adhere to all safety policies related to loading and unloading of trucks
• Follow all accident and injury reporting procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized receiving and processing area
• Determine which items are saleable, repairable or salvageable
• Other duties as assigned
• Adhere to proper dress code, with uniform as designated by direct Supervisor

• Educational Requirements:
  
  High School diploma or General Education degree (GED), or one or two months of related job experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience. Must complete and follow all safety training requirements provided by immediate Supervisor.

• Ability to lift, bend, and stoop
• Ability to walk, climb and/or balance
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, peripheral, vision, and depth perception
