Gateway Unified School District is seeking an Art Teacher for Grand Oaks Elementary School.

Grades: 6-12

Definition: This role is departmentalized.

• Provide 100% of instructional time in assigned subject areas.
• Teach in departmentalized or team teaching situations as assigned.
• Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study specified by state law.
• Provide planned learning experiences to motivate students and best use instructional time.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, deliver individualized small‑group instruction to adapt curriculum to student needs.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to create a functional learning environment.
• Cooperate in establishing standards of expected student progress and skill assessment methods.
• Evaluate pupil academic and social growth, maintain records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents.
• Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Create and maintain a functional and attractive classroom environment.
• Maintain professional competence through participation in in‑service and district professional growth activities.
• Perform basic attendance accounting and supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
• Participate in curriculum and developmental programs at the school and district level.
• Serve on district and faculty committees and support student activities.
• Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals as assigned.
• Complete required school/district reports and surveys promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

An appropriate California Teaching Credential.

• Demonstrated success with pupil, parent, and staff relations.
• Previous teaching experience at middle‑grade levels.
