Job Overview

Smile Education is recruiting an experienced Cover Manager to start immediately at a welcoming Secondary School in Redditch. The role involves managing day‑to‑day cover requirements across the school, ensuring lessons are appropriately staffed and managing cover arrangements efficiently. The successful applicant will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff and external supply agencies to coordinate planned and unplanned staff absences. Excellent organisational and communication skills and experience with SIMS, CMIS, ARBOR or BROMCOM are required.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Managing the daily cover timetable for teaching and support staff
  • Coordinating cover for planned and emergency staff absences
  • Liaising with supply agencies to arrange external cover when required
  • Maintaining accurate staff absence and cover records
  • Using SIMS, CMIS, BROMCOM or ARBOR to update staffing information
  • Producing daily cover sheets and distributing them to staff
  • Supporting senior leaders with reports relating to staff absence and cover
  • Providing administrative support within the school office when required
  • Communicating professionally with staff, visitors and external agencies
  • Working efficiently to ensure the smooth running of the school day
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience as a Cover Manager or in a school administration role
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent IT and administrative skills
  • Outstanding communication and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with school staff and external agencies
  • Confident prioritising workloads in a fast‑paced environment
Required Experience & Skills
  • Experience using SIMS, CMIS, BROMCOM or ARBOR
  • Availability to join the school immediately and commit to a long‑term position
Salary

£16‑£18 per hour, depending on experience.
