Job Description 3-month contract role with a local authoritySummary
- This is a 3-month contract role with a local authority aimed at supporting the delivery of an effective and compliant Housing Income Service. The position ensures the accurate, transparent, and timely application of service charges to tenants and leaseholders. The role involves collaborating with colleagues to administer charging processes, maximize income recovery, and ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, all while delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service.
- Support the delivery of service charge processes for tenants and leaseholders, including billing, enquiries, and complaint handling.
- Assist with the annual rent and service charge setting process, ensuring accuracy in estimates, actuals, and apportionments.
- Contribute to the implementation of recharging policies and processes for tenants and leaseholders.
- Support the compliant delivery of Section 20 consultation processes.
- Assist in the recovery and enforcement of former tenant debts, including recommendations for write-offs where appropriate.
- Accurately process large volumes of financial and customer data to ensure correct charges are applied and income is maximized.
- Respond to customer enquiries and complaints professionally, ensuring timely resolution and a positive customer experience.
Essential Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a financial, accounting, or income-related role, ideally within housing or public sector services.
- Experience working with service charges, rent accounts, or housing income processes.
- Experience managing customer enquiries and resolving complaints effectively.
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., finance, accounting, housing, or business administration).
- Evidence of ongoing professional development (desirable).
