Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Our client is a growing residential groundworks contractor delivering civil engineering and infrastructure packages on housing developments. With a strong forward order book, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team by appointing an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support ongoing and upcoming projects.

This role offers the chance to work alongside experienced commercial professionals, gaining hands-on exposure to the financial and contractual management of residential groundworks schemes. It is well suited to someone at the early stages of their QS career who is keen to progress within the civil engineering and groundworks sector.

• Supporting the commercial management of live residential groundworks projects
• Assisting with measurements and quantities from drawings and site information
• Helping prepare interim valuations and payment applications
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement, valuations, and account administration
• Managing variations and maintaining accurate cost records
• Supporting cost forecasting and reporting
• Assisting with agreement of final accounts
• Liaising with site teams to ensure commercial control is maintained

• Degree-qualified or studying towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• Some exposure to construction, civil engineering, or groundworks environments preferred
• Strong attention to detail with good numerical ability
• Confident communicator with the ability to work as part of a team
• Competent using Microsoft Excel and commercial software
• Motivated, organised, and eager to develop professionally
