1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you patient, nurturing and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning?

Distinction Education is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a pupil within a Year 3 class at a mainstream primary school in Redditch.

The successful Teaching Assistant will provide focused 1:1 support while helping the pupil remain engaged and included within the wider classroom.

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support
  • Help the pupil access classroom learning
  • Adapt and break down activities where appropriate
  • Encourage communication, engagement and independence
  • Provide reassurance and positive reinforcement
  • Support emotional regulation
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Help the child participate successfully within the wider class

Experience supporting children with autism or other Special Educational Needs (SEN) would be beneficial.

School Experience Is Desirable
- But Not Essential

We recognise that excellent SEN support staff dosent only come from schools.

While previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant would be desirable, we welcome applications from candidates who have substantial experience supporting children in other environments.

You may have worked within children's residential care, youth work, childcare, SEND services, sports coaching, children's charities, support work or other child-focused organisations.

If you can demonstrate strong experience supporting children, patience, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships, we would like to hear from you.

Pay: £92.56 - £110 per day PAYE.
