Job description

Are you passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and reach their full potential? We’re recruiting a dedicated Learning Needs Support Practitioners to join our supportive education team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with learners to identify individual support needs, develop practical strategies, and provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support that helps them engage, progress and succeed. You’ll collaborate with tutors and wider support teams to promote inclusive learning, build confidence, and ensure every learner is supported and empowered to achieve meaningful outcomes.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at
HMP Hewell, working as a Learning Support Practitioner. This role is offered on a
permanent, full-time
basis working
37
hours per week.

HMP Hewell is situated in Worcestershire, England, Hewell Prison is a Category B men’s prison serving the West Midlands area. HMP Hewell offers a range of training and development programs, including vocational workshops, educational courses, and initiatives focused on resettlement and family support

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • To hold level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy
  • To hold a Level 2 qualification in Hidden Difficulties or equivalent or be willing to work towards within an agreed timescale
  • Track record of working effectively with learners presenting with challenging behaviour
  • Understanding of how people learn and methods that can be used to enhance a learning experience
  • Supporting the learning of individuals and groups
  • Experience of working with learners with a range of abilities and support needs
  • Experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
  • Accurate and timely reporting
