A Test Engineer opportunity has arisen within a well-established engineering and manufacturing business developing specialist machinery for customers across a range of sectors.
Working within a dedicated development cell, you'll build and test prototype machinery, set up validation programmes, collect and analyse test data and support the transition of new products into production. This is a practical position combining mechanical assembly, testing and technical reporting rather than a purely design-based role.
Test Engineer responsibilities include- Building prototype machinery, assemblies, test equipment, jigs and fixtures.
- Setting up and completing mechanical test and validation programmes.
- Collecting and analysing test data before producing clear technical reports.
- Investigating existing products and recommending engineering changes following customer, supplier, or internal issues.
- Machining or modifying development components when required.
- Working with Design, Manufacturing and Quality to move new products from prototype into production.
- Previous experience as a Test Engineer, Development Engineer, R&D Technician or similar.
- Hands-on mechanical assembly, fitting, test rig or machinery-building experience.
- Experience working with complex special-purpose or rotating machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Confident collecting and analysing test data.
- Experience reading engineering drawings or using machining and welding equipment would be advantageous.
- Salary of £35,000-£40,000, dependent on experience.
- 5-hour working week with flexitime.
- Midday finish on Fridays.
