Redditch (202 7 ) The Opportunity
You’ll join our Water team and be part of a UK-wide discipline of around 335 civil and structural engineers. You’ll learn from experienced colleagues while developing the skills and confidence to build your career in civil engineering.
Locally, you’ll be part of a supportive team of around 22 colleagues across Redditch, Birmingham, Derby and Shrewsbury. The Redditch team works closely with our other Midlands offices as one regional team, with Severn Trent Water as a key local client.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands‑on experience on water projects, learn how civil engineering supports essential infrastructure, and be supported by colleagues from different disciplines as you build your technical knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:- Supporting engineering activities from feasibility through to construction, including the production of detailed calculations, analysis and drawings.
- Using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other industry software to present design solutions for clients.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, bids and proposals.
- Providing technical input on civil engineering matters to support the wider project team.
- Attending meetings and workshops with clients and colleagues from other disciplines.
Earn while you learn. Whichever apprenticeship route you take, your tuition and qualification fees are on us. You will gain a Level 6BEng Civil Engineering degree in conjunction with our Training Provider(s). This will be discussed further during the recruitment process. For this role, training providers could include;
- Coventry University (block release)

Qualifications:For our Level 6 apprenticeship you will need to achieve a minimum of 112 UCAS points, from one of the following:
- A level: BBC (excluding General Studies). You must have Mathematics at grade B or above and one other analytical science subject at grade B or above. Analytical science subjects can include Physics, Biology/Human Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Further Mathematics and Design and Technology.
- BTEC (Level
3) Extended Diploma: DMM - this must include a Merit or above in Mathematics and Further Mathematics in Construction Units. Accepted courses:
Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction and the Built Environment and Mechanical Engineering. - For Coventry you will need: DDM
- Scottish Highers: 4 SQA Higher - A, B, B, B (to include Mathematics, Higher Applications of Mathematics not accepted).
- Irish Highers: H3, H3, H3, H3, H3, H4 (at least H3 for Mathematics and one other Analytical Science).
- International Baccalaureate: 32/655. HL5 in Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches) and HL5 in another Science subject, including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies.
- Other equivalent qualifications may be considered.
- GCSEs: 5 GCSE's (or recognised equivalent) with a grade 5-6 (B) or above in Mathematics and English Language. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics are also accepted.
