Up to £30,000 Excellent Benefits Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Nenebrook Recruitment (NRG) is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly respected organisation within the construction sector to recruit an Assistant Accountant for their UK Head Office in Redditch. This opportunity has arisen due to continued business growth and offers an excellent chance for an ambitious finance professional to further develop their accounting career within a supportive and successful business.
The Role Reporting into the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, assisting with financial reporting, transaction processing, reconciliations, payroll, VAT returns, and month-end accounting activities. This is a varied and hands-on role that would suit an individual looking to broaden their accounting experience whilst continuing their professional studies.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Preparation Process and reconcile commission statements Reconcile debtor and creditor control accounts Prepare and post accruals and prepayments Complete fixed asset reconciliations Prepare draft quarterly VAT returns Perform intercompany reconciliations Post journals accurately and promptly Support the preparation of monthly management accounts Transaction Processing Process sales invoices through Sage and maintain supporting records Process purchase invoices and arrange supplier payments Perform bank, sales ledger and purchase ledger reconciliations Raise and bank cheques as required Post daily client account transactions Maintain accurate financial records using Sage and Excel Support the movement of client monies in line with SSAS, SIPP and investment compliance requirements Manage fee collections Handle petty cash transactions Provide general finance administration support Reporting Produce regular sales reports Assist in the preparation of the monthly business performance pack Additional Duties Support the annual audit process Assist with ad-hoc finance projects and initiatives Provide additional support to the Finance Director as required About You To be considered, you will ideally:
Be studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA (or already be qualified) Have at least 1–2 years' experience in a similar finance position such as Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant Possess strong reconciliation and transactional accounting skills Be confident using Microsoft Excel Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Demonstrate a proactive and positive approach to work Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
Previous experience using Sage would be a distinct advantage, although it is not essential. What's on Offer?
