MRI Senior Radiographer

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 MRI Radiographer to support the expansion of our MRI services across the county. The closing date for applications is 11 March 2026
.

We operate three sites – Kidderminster, Redditch and Worcester – with a mix of 2 Siemens 1.5T scanners and 1 Philips 1.5T scanner. Our MRI service covers a wide range of examinations, including cardiac, paediatric and breast imaging, providing a rich and varied working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently produce high‑quality MRI imaging and deliver excellent patient care while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Plan, prioritise and organise workload, maintain appropriate stock levels and adhere to infection control measures.
  • Participate in departmental audit, quality assurance and improvement activities.
  • Actively support colleagues through training, supervision of junior staff and sharing of best practices.
  • Assist the site lead in developing protocols and techniques, contributing to service development and CPD programmes.
  • Support safe staffing and coverage, including participation in out‑of‑hours rosters and extended day shifts as required.
  • Ensure compliance with HCPC standards, IRMER, and trust policies, including safeguarding, risks assessment and radiological safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, handovers and reporting of incidents or concerns via the trust’s systems.
  • Promote team working and effective communication with multi‑disciplinary colleagues, patients and carers.
Qualifications
  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or an equivalent degree acceptable for HCPC registration.
  • State registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • SOR IV injection certificate of competence.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years comprehensive MRI experience, including specialist areas such as cardiac MRI.
  • Experience of out‑of‑hours working and managing clinical priorities.
  • Experience of quality assurance, audit and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in an acute hospital setting with awareness of change management within radiology.
  • Knowledge of MHRA guidelines, NHS priorities, GIRFT/NICE guidelines relevant to MRI.
