Mechanical Operative

Role: Mechanical Operative (Metal component finishing department)

Environment: Manufacturing - Precision Engineering

Location: Redditch

Shift: Lates - Monday to Wednesday (4:30 pm to 2:30 am) and Thursday (4:30 pm to 1:30 am) (39 hrs)

Pay: £16.97 - £18.25 per hour - DOE with rates of £19.64 available once trained.

Overtime: x1.33 Mon‑Fri, x1.5 Saturday, x2 Sunday

Holidays / Benefits: Holidays are calculated in hours but work out to 5.6 weeks of annual leave per year including bank holidays, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 1 year of continuous service. Death in Service Benefit – 2 × annual salary. Employer 3% / Employee 5% – Pension.

We require a Mechanical Operative to join the metal finishing department. As the Mechanical Operative you will be tasked to finish precision engineered metal components working to tight tolerances using hand tools such as hand grinders and metal polishers. The role involves working within the finishing department, fettling, de‑burring, and polishing metal components with various air‑powered hand tools.

The ideal candidate may have:

• Mechanical competence working with air-powered hand tools such as hand grinders.
• Capability to work within tight tolerances on precision metal components.

Commutable from:
Redditch, Alcester, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Stratford‑upon‑Avon, Warwick, and surrounding areas.

Finish precision engineered metal components to tight tolerances using hand tools and air-powered hand tools, including fettling, de-burring, and polishing.
