Saw Operative (Redditch)

Full-time, permanent position with Pertemps Redditch Industrial, paying £13.50 to £15.00 per hour depending on experience. Working Monday to Friday on day shifts, with an early finish each Friday. This role suits someone with prior hands-on use of band saws or industrial plate saws inside a metal fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing setting.

Daily duties involve cutting materials precisely to specification, interpreting job sheets, drawings, and cutting lists, plus measuring and checking components. The workshop is busy and growing, so reliability and accuracy matter. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and following technical instructions closely.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Saw Operative to join a busy and growing metal fabrication workshop based in Redditch. The successful candidate will have previous experience operating Band Saws or Industrial Plate Saws within a manufacturing, engineering, or metal fabrication environment. This is a full-time, day-shift position offering a competitive hourly rate and a stable Monday to Friday working schedule, with an early finish every Friday!

• Operating band saws and industrial plate saws to cut metal materials accurately to specification.
• Reading and interpreting job sheets, drawings, and cutting lists.
• Measuring and checking materials to ensure quality standards are met.
• Handling and moving metal stock safely within the workshop.
• Carrying out routine machine checks and basic maintenance.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
• Working closely with fabrication and production teams to meet deadlines.

• Previous experience as a Saw Operative or similar role within a metal fabrication or engineering environment.
• Proven experience operating Band Saws and Industrial Plate Saws.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
