We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced nurse leader to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics team as Band 7 Manager for the Orthopaedic Centre at Alexandra Hospital. This key leadership role within the Surgical Care Group supports the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care for patients accessing orthopaedic outpatient, fracture clinic and elective services.

This role requires clinical and operational leadership, working closely with the Matron, Ward Managers, clinical teams, consultants, therapists, administrative colleagues and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of patient care, experience, quality, governance and service performance.

The Orthopaedic Centre at Alexandra Hospital supports a busy and varied orthopaedic service, including fracture clinics, elective orthopaedic clinics, therapy input, pre‑assessment activity and close working with imaging, theatre, ward and outpatient services. The service plays an important role in supporting patient pathways across Worcestershire, providing high‑quality care for patients with trauma, elective and follow‑up orthopaedic needs.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a skilled and committed team, contribute to service development, strengthen governance processes and support continuous improvement across the orthopaedic pathway.

• Provide strong, visible and compassionate leadership to the Orthopaedic Centre team, promoting a positive culture focused on patient safety, quality, learning and staff wellbeing.
• Support the day‑to‑day operational management of the department, ensuring effective use of resources, safe staffing, efficient clinic flow and timely escalation of risks or concerns.
• Work collaboratively with the Matron, Directorate Management Team, consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver safe, effective and responsive orthopaedic services.
• Lead and support quality improvement, audit, governance, incident review, patient feedback and action planning to improve patient experience and outcomes.
• Promote high standards of professional practice, infection prevention, documentation, medicines management, safeguarding and compliance with Trust policies and clinical standards.
• Support staff development through supervision, coaching, appraisal, competency development and effective management of performance, attendance and wellbeing.
• Contribute to service transformation, pathway improvement and elective recovery priorities, ensuring the department remains responsive to changing operational demands.

• Relevant experience at Band 6 within a related specialty.
