RQ; PM – Homelessness & Solutions Officer

The Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing housing advice, assessing applications, preventing homelessness, arranging temporary accommodation when needed, and finding long-term housing solutions. The role involves managing a caseload, making lawful decisions, working with partner agencies and landlords, and ensuring the council meets its legal responsibilities while delivering excellent customer service.

To prevent and relieve homelessness by providing expert housing advice, assessing homelessness applications, making lawful decisions, and helping people secure suitable and sustainable housing.

• Provide housing advice and support to prevent or relieve homelessness through suitable housing options.
• Assess homelessness applications and make legally compliant decisions under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Manage a caseload of clients, carrying out assessments, investigations, and producing accurate case records and decision letters.
• Arrange temporary accommodation for eligible applicants and ensure placements meet legal requirements and individual needs.
• Work with landlords and partner agencies (such as housing providers, support services, and social care) to secure sustainable housing solutions.
• Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with legislation, council policies, and performance requirements.
• Keep up to date with housing legislation and safeguarding, while delivering a professional, customer-focused, fair, and confidential service.

• At least 3 years of experience in Homeless & Housing Solutions.

Start Time – 9am
End Time – 17:30pm
£22 per hour PAYE
2 days per week working from the office
