Transition Officer

College location:
East Surrey College (Redhill) and John Ruskin College (Selsdon)

Salary: £31,094 pro rated to £28,642.36 (40 weeks)

Hours:

37 hours (8:45 - 17:00 Mon-Fri)

Interviews: 20th August onwards

Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEND to achieve their full potential?

We are seeking a Transition Officer to support learners with EHCPs, SEND and other learning needs as they transition into college. Working closely with students, families, schools and Local Authorities, you will help ensure learners receive the right support from the start of their educational journey.

As Transition Officer, you will:
  • Coordinate transition and admissions activities for learners with SEND.
  • Complete EHCP consultations and support statutory processes.
  • Conduct pre-entry assessments and gather information to inform support planning.
  • Develop learner support profiles and transition documentation.
  • Build positive relationships with schools, parents/carers, SENCOs and external professionals.
  • Support transition events, interviews, open evenings and enrolment activities.
The successful candidate must
  • Have a relevant qualification in SEND (Learning Needs), education, wellbeing or in a related area or willing to work towards one
  • Have experience working with young people in an educational or support setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
  • Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
