Financial Controller

Your new company
Our fast-growing business services client is looking for a Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function and play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Leadership Team with accurate, timely, and commercially focused financial insight.
Your new role
You will maintain accounting records to audit standards, including bookkeeping, general ledger management, accounts payable, fixed assets, balance sheet reconciliations, and quarterly VAT returns. You will also prepare comprehensive monthly management accounts, forecasts, and KPI reporting across the P&L and balance sheet. You will calculate and report monthly liabilities to multiple franchise partners and act as a true finance business partner, equipping operational and commercial teams with the data and analysis they need to drive performance.

With full responsibility for monthly payroll and HMRC submissions, you will ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS), and all VAT and tax regulations. You will also lead and develop a small accounting team while championing continuous improvement across financial systems, controls, and reporting processes. What you'll need to succeed
You will be an ACA or ACCA qualified Accountant, having worked as a SME Financial Controller and, ideally, have ideally trained within an accountancy firm. You will be technically strong, but also be able to business partner with key stakeholders. Strong systems skills, including Excel and Xero, along with excellent communications skills
What you'll get in return
This is a hybrid role: 3 days in the office, 2 remote, salary £70,000 - £80,000 depending on experience.
