About the Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, internationally recognised engineering and manufacturing business that designs and delivers highly specialised equipment to customers around the world.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Purchasing Executive to take full ownership of procurement, production planning, and supplier management across their UK operations.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that blends strategic purchasing, MRP planning, and operational coordination-ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of hands‑on delivery and process improvement.

The Role

As a key member of the operations function, you will ensure materials and components are sourced efficiently, cost‑effectively, and delivered on time to support production requirements.

You will work closely with internal departments and external suppliers to maintain a resilient and responsive supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the MRP and master production planning process to support manufacturing schedules
  • Convert planned demand into purchase orders and internal works orders
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and reliability
  • Develop and maintain a robust and agile supplier network
  • Manage supplier communications, order confirmations, and delivery schedules
  • Monitor stock levels and inventory performance to prevent shortages and reduce excess
  • Maintain accurate ERP system data, including pricing, lead times, and supplier records
  • Act as a key liaison between departments to resolve supply chain issues proactively
  • Support and drive continuous improvement across purchasing and planning processes
What We're Looking For

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX advantageous but not essential)
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused approach
Desirable
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent supply chain certification
  • Experience working with international suppliers or global teams
