Overview

The position requires availability of approximately forty hours per week with a flexible schedule to provide efficient service for the group. Hours, pay scale, and benefits will be defined as agreed.

Responsibilities
  • Work in the Physical Therapy Department front office located on the first floor of Seven Oaks Medical Plaza’s offices.
  • Handle confidential patient files with privacy, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Contribute to the physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues, providing information and commentary, recommending options, and implementing physical therapy directives.
  • Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining and updating therapy histories.
  • Review and interpret patient evaluations and test results in collaboration with the physical therapist.
  • Document patient care services in the electronic medical record system.
  • Administer manual exercises, instruct and assist patients in performing physical activities, and use supportive devices (crutches, canes, prostheses) as appropriate.
  • Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens and wellness information; promote health maintenance.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans to provide continuity of care.
Relationships
  • The Physical Therapy Assistant reports to the Director of Physical Therapy and communicates progress, requests, concerns, and expectations as directed.
  • Interacts with office and clinical staff, doctors, licensed physical therapists, interns, physical therapy aides, and patients in a professional and safety-conscious environment.
  • Following this description, duties may be updated or revised at any time by Arrowhead Orthopaedics.
Requirements
  • Skill Requirements: PTA license and CPR certification required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including software programs (outlook and an Electronic Medical Record system preferred).
  • Professional phone etiquette and communication skills.
Typical Physical Demands
  • Sitting and walking, daily stooping, reaching, and bending.
  • Lifting up to thirty pounds.
  • Normal hearing range for telephone and in-person communication.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboards and office equipment.
