OverviewThe organization aims to provide the finest Orthopaedic care. This philosophy requires that all office staff and providers be sensitive and responsive to patients’ needs and preferences. The following job description is adopted to hire and retain staff who support this mission.
The position requires availability of approximately forty hours per week with a flexible schedule to provide efficient service for the group. Hours, pay scale, and benefits will be defined as agreed.
Responsibilities- Work in the Physical Therapy Department front office located on the first floor of Seven Oaks Medical Plaza’s offices.
- Handle confidential patient files with privacy, discretion, and professionalism.
- Contribute to the physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues, providing information and commentary, recommending options, and implementing physical therapy directives.
- Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining and updating therapy histories.
- Review and interpret patient evaluations and test results in collaboration with the physical therapist.
- Document patient care services in the electronic medical record system.
- Administer manual exercises, instruct and assist patients in performing physical activities, and use supportive devices (crutches, canes, prostheses) as appropriate.
- Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens and wellness information; promote health maintenance.
- Develop and implement patient management plans to provide continuity of care.
- The Physical Therapy Assistant reports to the Director of Physical Therapy and communicates progress, requests, concerns, and expectations as directed.
- Interacts with office and clinical staff, doctors, licensed physical therapists, interns, physical therapy aides, and patients in a professional and safety-conscious environment.
- Following this description, duties may be updated or revised at any time by Arrowhead Orthopaedics.
- Skill Requirements: PTA license and CPR certification required.
- Proficient computer skills, including software programs (outlook and an Electronic Medical Record system preferred).
- Professional phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Sitting and walking, daily stooping, reaching, and bending.
- Lifting up to thirty pounds.
- Normal hearing range for telephone and in-person communication.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboards and office equipment.
