The City of Redlands, California, is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Director of Development Services.

About the Position
  • The Development Services Department oversees Planning, Building & Safety, Land Use Engineering, Economic Development, and Sustainability. The Director will manage all Development Services activities and staff, oversee redevelopment and planning, advise the City Council and Planning Commission, guide CEQA review, housing policy, and sustainability goals, and coordinate complex development projects and negotiations.
Education & Experience - Required
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, or a related field
  • Seven years of progressively responsible planning, redevelopment, or economic development experience, including at least five years in management or supervision
  • Valid California driver's license
Education & Experience - Preferred
  • Master's degree in planning, public administration, or a related field
  • Extensive experience with CEQA, housing law, and redevelopment
  • Prior service as a Director or Assistant City Manager
Compensation & Benefits
  • The City of Redlands is offering a salary range of $208,332 to $256,224 DOE/DOQ. Benefits include a $500 per month car allowance, full medical premium paid by the City for the employee, 430 hours of annual leave per year with cash-out option, City contribution to a deferred compensation plan, CalPERS retirement, and additional benefits such as professional development support, flexible schedule, wellness initiatives, and potential relocation assistance.
