Reporting to the Nursing Director or Manager, this position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Redlands Community Hospital. It is expected the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with our Standards of Performance.
Job DescriptionThe Charge Nurse adheres to the Patient’s First Philosophy of Safety, Compassion, and Efficiency. S/he is able to coordinate care not only for individual patients, but also to lead the care delivery of multiple patients in the nursing care area in accordance with policies and procedures of the Hospital.
S/he collaborates with other professional disciplines/unit leaders to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
S/he is responsible for assigning nursing personnel to specific patients based upon their skill, experience, temperament, and the acuity of the patients.
This position serves as a resource of information and coordinates all activities within the department. Responsibilities and related duties are carried out by the Charge Nurse as delegated by the Nurse Manager with the appropriate level of authority and independent judgment to ensure compliance.

Qualifications Education & Training & Experience- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program required.
- Recent appropriate nursing practice (within past 4 years), or evidence of nursing refresher courses preferred.
- Experience and/or training in leadership preferred, if acting as charge nurse.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire; required within 6 months of hire for new graduate RN's.
- Current PALS certification required within 3 months of hire; required within 6 months of hire for new graduate RN's.
- NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire.
