Auto Glass Installation Technician Trainee
Safelite is hiring a trainee for the Auto Glass Installation Technician role. The position offers on‑the‑job training to become a Safelite‑certified technician, with a pay range of $23.50 per hour during training, increasing to $27.75 per hour after certification.
Base Pay Range$23.50/yr - $23.50/yr
What You Will Do- Be paid to learn and apprentice the Safelite way, through hands‑on and classroom training.
- Observe and assist in installing and repairing auto glass.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including trouble‑shooting and diagnostic testing.
- Provide additional services and products.
- Study and pass testing to become a Safelite‑certified Technician, showing proficiency in installations, following taught techniques, and maintaining a positive attitude.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, company‑issued tools, and chemicals used throughout the workday.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly pay starting at $23.50/hr, increasing to $27.75/hr after training and certification.
- Earn $5 per set of wiper blades when added for customer safety.

- Program to buy additional PTO or sell unused time up to 16 hours.

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license. Additional licenses required by federal, state and local laws (required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older (required).
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all laws and agreed monitoring via in‑cab cameras.
- Maintains professionalism and passion for outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work outside under various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to work with chemicals, including flammable ones, as per “Safelite Way of Fitting.”
- Availability for flexible start and end times to meet customer needs.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations.
- Problem‑solving skills, independent and collaborative.
- Reading, writing and interpreting English language and technical directions.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain a professional appearance, following dress code and PPE policies.
- Willingness to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure.
