QFE Build Programmer II

Overview

Esri’s ArcGIS geospatial server technology powers our customers' mission-critical decision-making systems. As a QFE Build Programmer for the ArcGIS Enterprise product, you will aid in building and delivering hot fixes and software patches by porting fixes in C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python into shipping software components and developing efficient and resilient build pipelines for the same. In this role, you will have the opportunity to innovate and enhance the development of automated verification tools for the software patches produced and work on a wide range of codebases and third-party components.

• Develop tools and scripts to support build automation for Jenkins pipelines
• Develop and maintain software build pipelines like code using Maven, Groovy and Python
• Develop automated test suites for validating various aspects of these pipelines (Infrastructure as Code)
• Work closely with multiple app and functional teams for bringing in new features and components into the product stack, providing support for builds, code obfuscation, third-party dependency management and other release-specific tasks for these components
• Oversee patch integration builds of Esri’s flagship products using software patching technology like Install Shield and MSI/MSP
• Optimize build processes for speed and reliability
• Support patch source code management using Git and other contemporary version control techniques

• Basic understanding of HTTP/S and web servers such as Apache Tomcat
• Exposure to build tools like Maven, Ant, or scripting languages like Groovy
• Experience (academic or internship) with version control systems such as Git or Git Hub
• Knowledge of Linux environments and basic shell scripting
• Coursework or hands-on experience with databases (such as Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL)
• Understanding of multi-tiered software architectures (web, middleware, database)
• Awareness of Dev Ops practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Docker
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM related field

• Working experience with Java highly preferred
• Internship or project experience involving Dev Ops or cloud-based deployments
• Contributions to open-source projects or personal coding projects
• Exposure to distributed systems or high-performance computing environments
• Experience with UNIX or Linux
• Experience with one of the following tools:
  Jenkins, Chef, Docker
• Experience with building client-side applications with Node.js/AngularJS
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or STEM related field
