HIRING RANGE: Near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with education, experience, skills, and training.

Definition of ClassificationThe Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the women's volleyball program, serve as a recruiter, and assist with instruction as assigned. The coach must comply with University, NCAA, and SCIAC rules and policies. The position may require travel for athletic contests and recruiting, and flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Responsibilities- Identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified prospective student‑athletes.
- Arrange and conduct on‑ and off‑campus visits with prospective student‑athletes.
- Assist with on‑floor coaching, training, and skill development.
- Plan, execute, and maintain all aspects of the program's social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
- Scout opponents and prepare scouting reports for the head coach and team members.
- Function as an active member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Perform a collateral departmental administrative assignment for programs and the department as determined by the successful candidate's strengths and experience.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years of coaching experience; at least one year of intercollegiate volleyball coaching preferred.
- Experience with graphic design software, MS Visio, and Pro Quick Draw preferred.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license with a good driving record; out‑of‑state licenses valid until appointment, and a California Class C license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
- Understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy.
- Ability to attract outstanding students to the university.
- Understanding of the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics in a private liberal arts setting.
- Strong interpersonal, motivational, and team leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational and detail‑oriented skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
- Follow appropriate safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
- Aptitude to learn new and evolving technology.
- Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to foster strong, positive relationships and align internal and external resources to achieve university objectives.
- Competency to interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
The work environment is moderate to loud and may involve moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Travel for contests and recruiting may be required. The role requires flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, speaking, reading fine print, operating a computer, using hands and fingers for keyboard or office machines, walking regularly, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds.
