SALARY RANGE: $59,488

HIRING RANGE:
Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification,commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Definition of Classification:

The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the women's volleyball program. Also serves as a recruiter for the volleyball program and assists with instruction, as assigned.

Reporting to the Head Coach, this position is responsible for furthering the mission of the University, the Department of Physical Education and Athletics, and the Bulldog Volleyball program. The Assistant Volleyball Coach must comply with all University, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rules and policies.

This position may be required to travel for extended periods of time for athletic contests and recruiting activities. Requires flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by the teams' schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Identifies, evaluates, and recruits qualified prospective student-athletes.  
• Arranges and conducts on and off campus visits with prospective student-athletes.  
• Assists with on-floor coaching, training, and skill development.  
• Plans, executes, and maintains all aspects of the program's social media sites (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).  
• Scouting of opponents and preparation of scouting reports for head coach and team members.  
• Functions as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.  
• Responsibilities include a collateral departmental administrative assignment to be performed in support of programs and the department. Such assignment will be determined by the strengths, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualification Guidelines Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

Experience/Training/

Education:

• Bachelor's degree.  
• Three years of coaching experience. Preference given to those with at least one year of intercollegiate volleyball coaching experience.  
• Experience in graphic design software, MS Visio and Pro Quick Draw is preferred.  
• A valid California Class C CA drivers' license with a good driving record is required.

Note:

Out-of-state licenses are valid until appointment. A valid California Class “C” driver's license must be obtained within ten (10) days of appointment (in accordance with CA Vehicle Code 12505c).  
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED.Knowledge and

Skills:

• Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.  
• Knowledge and understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy.  
• Possess the ability to attract outstanding students to the University.  
• Knowledge and understanding of the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics in a private, liberal arts academic setting.  
• Strong interpersonal, motivational, and team leadership skills to work effectively with athletic participants.  
• Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.  
• Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.  
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.  
• Follow appropriate safety rules and regulations.  
• Knowledge of personal computers and personal computer software and applications.  
• Aptitude to learn new and evolving technology.  
• Ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines.
