We are seeking a skilled, self‑motivated Manufacturing Engineer with a great attitude. This position offers excellent potential for growth in a cutting‑edge field, with diverse work that will build your engineering portfolio and the added bonus of enjoying the Central Oregon lifestyle.
Role SummaryThis role will own composite parts to whole airframe manufacturing engineering in a small, fast‑moving aerospace shop. Expect real ownership, frequent cross‑talk with design/QA/supply chain/customers, and the satisfaction of seeing your engineering decisions hit the line—safely, repeatably, and on cost for many and varying programs.
Skills and Responsibilities- Own composite part/tool families end-to-end: design and release ply books/drawings, develop layup/trim/drill/assembly tooling, and manage BOM with full configuration control
- Author production‑ready work instructions: photo‑rich travelers with cure parameters, QA checkpoints, callouts, and clear acceptance criteria
- Composite part design and analysis
- Tooling and fixture development
- Manufacturing engineering & flow: create routings and time standards
- Process development & qualification: define materials/cure cycles, bonding/adhesives and repairs
- Quality & compliance: support inspection, lead NCR root cause and maintain AS9100 discipline
- Reports To Engineering Manager
- Two‑Three (2‑3) years hands‑on experience in composite design & engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years hands‑on experience in a composite production/fabrication environment
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Relevant BS or MS degree
- Motivated to learn, be flexible, and take on new tasks
- Passion for improving process, equipment dependability, and productivity
- Available normal business hours with occasional weekend/overtime work totaling 40 hours/week
- Familiarity with FEAMAP/NX Nastran or alternative FEA platform desired
