Space

X is building a global broadband satellite constellation to provide fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. As the company continues to scale and upgrade its Starlink network, it seeks talented engineers to join the team.

Requirements

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll own the entire life‑cycle of the hardware that enables Starlink connectivity, working at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, thermal analysis, software, and antenna/RF engineering.

Sub‑Teams
  • Avionics:
    Designing and developing the bus avionics systems that control the satellite, convert and distribute power, route traffic, and connect satellites via Space Lasers.
  • Payload:
    Building phased‑array antennas, parabolic antennas, and custom compute & modem electronics to deliver connectivity to users.
Responsibilities
  • Rapidly develop high‑reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
  • Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring‑up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, test, and on‑orbit performance.
  • Support hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers from mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, silicon design, and other disciplines.
  • Challenge assumptions, question requirements, learn from mistakes, and approach problems with an open mind.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
  • 5+ years of industry experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
Preferred Skills And Experience
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience rapidly designing and delivering highly reliable products.
  • 2+ years of experience designing hardware from concept through production, focused on full life‑cycle development.
  • 2+ years designing mixed‑signal circuit boards using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, multi‑GHz Ser Des, DDR4, I²C, SPI, op‑amps, ADC/DAC, and power supplies.
  • 2+ years of testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics.
  • Strong understanding of computers and programming languages (Python, C/C++).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross‑functional role.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working on aerospace systems.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission‑critical deadlines.
  • Some travel may be occasionally required.
Compensation And Benefits

Pay range: $130,000–$200,000 per year.

Base salary is one part of the total rewards package, which may include long‑term incentives, stock options, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
