As a Battery Research Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of next-generation devices by driving the research and development of advanced battery technologies. In this role, you will lead the creation and execution of technical roadmaps and strategies for innovative battery solutions that power future AR and XR devices. Required Skills
Tech Lead, Battery Research Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to research teams developing advanced battery technologies, from concept through to prototypeDefine and execute research roadmaps in partnership with internal and external collaboratorsDrive the transfer of promising battery technologies from research to product development, supporting new technology introduction (NTI) and new product introduction (NPI) projectsLead and contribute to battery modeling efforts, including electrochemical modeling, materials modeling, and/or AI/ML for materials discoveryDesign and execute experiments to support model development and validationCollaborate cross-functionally with research, engineering, and manufacturing partnersMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experiencePhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline5+ years of experience leading projects and programs, including cross-functional partners2+ years of experience developing program direction and strategy5+ years of experience in battery development for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, or related fields5+ years of experience with battery modeling (e.g., physics‑based material or electrochemistry modeling, AI/ML for materials discovery)5+ years of experience designing and executing experiments for model development and validation5+ years of experience driving research, development, and/or manufacturing projects with third‑party partnersPreferred Qualifications
5+ years industry experience in battery development for electric vehicles or consumer electronics devices5+ years industry experience with battery modeling for consumer electronics or electric vehicles (e.g., physics‑based battery material or electrochemistry modeling, AI/ML development for battery materials discovery)Proven understanding of battery cell materials, chemistry, and manufacturing processes for consumer electronicsDemonstrated experience solving complex problems across technical domainsProven track record of balancing strategic planning with detailed execution, including leading teams and contributing as an individual contributorExperience with battery and materials characterization techniques (e.g., electrochemical cell characterization, cyclic voltammetry, EIS, XPS, FTIR, etc.)Public Compensation
$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
