Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities- Identify and analyze requirements, conceive and develop trade studies on mechanism design options.
- Create and iterate detailed CAD models of design options – mechanism geometry, materials / lubrication selections, assembly processes and test methods.
- Analyze (classical / FEA) all load conditions (static, dynamic, thermal, fatigue) for compliance.
- Develop test plans throughout development with variable isolation DOEs and statistical analysis for long term reliability assessments as needed.
- Define qualification plans and identify acceptance testing methods at volume production.
- Facilitate cost trades on multiple parallel configurations for cost/manufacturability vs design uncertainty.
- Produce complete design packages – detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, Assembly documentation.
- Generate and run product specific tests to validate their design decisions.
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- 7+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with prototyping and implementation.
- 4+ years experience developing space-rated moving mechanical assemblies.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience with the project management of technical projects.
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Ansys Finite Element analysis tools.
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
- Proficiency in Python or equivalent.
- Proficiency in NX (CAD) and Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management tools.
- Experience developing active moving mechanical assemblies utilizing stepper motors, brushless DC motors, brushed DC motors.
- Experience developing passive moving mechanical assemblies (hinges, hold-down release mechanisms, etc).
The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
