Summary
At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Mixed Reality products. This team focuses on developing display and optics technologies for Meta products, creating see-through display systems that seamlessly blend the real and virtual realms. The role involves designing architecture and display sub-systems for wearable glasses, developing and implementing test, characterization, metrology, and data solutions to support transparent display systems.
We’re seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Reality Labs team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of wearables. As a key member of our team, you’ll explore innovative architectures and design spaces for our wearable devices, develop and analyze components, and drive detailed analysis. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic environment where you will consistently switch between high-level thinking and meticulous attention to detail to mature our architectures and designs.

Device Modeling Engineer Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional teams in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge optical solutions for new optics architectures, utilizing innovative materials and processesIdentify, incubate, and productize optical technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the field of Wearable opticsSpecify key performance metrics, test methods, and test requirements for optical components and systemsDevelop and maintain technical roadmapsInterface with stakeholders and leadership to influence product roadmapsStay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activityManage budgets, resources, and collaborations with global vendorsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline6+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of full product development cycle of ElectronicsExperience and expertise in these areas: optical design software, geometrical optics, wave optics, and polarization optics, optical materials, coatings, manufacturing processes, Imaging optics design and manufacturing, display optics, optical sensing, optical system integration and testingTechnical leadership, communication, and project management skillsProblem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skillsPreferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical disciplineIn-depth knowledge of electromagnetic modeling techniques, such as the finite element method (FEM), finite-difference time-domain (FDTD), and rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA)Experience working with optical design software such as Meep, Lumerical, Light Tools, Zemax, Code V, FRED, or similarExperience in building predictive optical models, validating designs and models with metrology data, and closing the loop between simulations and measurementsExperience using scripting languages and data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, or MATLABExperience working with external vendors to deliver custom optical components, modules, or systems, involving challenging optical requirements to drive innovative fabrication process development, and new opto-mechanical integration and metrology techniquesProcess development and failure analysis experience for optical components and modules such as cameras, sensors, or illumination/projector systemsExperience in developing optical modules or systems in highly multidisciplinary environments, including setting specifications, determining test methods, and overall module and system integrationPublic Compensation
$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
