Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Key Responsibilities- Conduct investigations based on risks, hazards, and incidents.
- Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications and participation.
- Execute sampling plans.
- Serve as key point of contact for safety issues and environmental issues.
- Conduct compliance tasks including storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
- Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements.
- Support and conduct EHS audits, developing action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.
- Perform job hazard analysis and risk assessments for new processes and equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate reporting systems.
- Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.
- Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site EHS risk.
- Support site stand‑up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, math, business or equivalent.
- 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Experience developing and leading health and safety programs including control of hazardous energy, laser safety, and confined space.
- Experience developing and implementing safety protocols and compliance measures.
- Proven record of conducting safety assessments and hazard identification.
- Ability to tactically lead and support technical teams on safety program.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Experience creating safety reports and presenting to leadership.
- Ability to manage facility safety and risk prevention initiatives.
- Provide EHS functional guidance.
- 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure experience.
- Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
- Credentials including but not limited to: IH, ASP, CSP, or NEBOSH.
Candidate must be willing to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekends.
A Day in the LifeBased in Redmond, WA, the EHS Manager role will support the development and will execute Amazon Leo’s EHS compliance programs and be supported under the supervision of the Leo EHS Manager. You will support Kuiper’s personnel in the development, testing, and manufacture of space hardware, which will include developing and executing new programs to strengthen our EHS compliance and risk management processes.
This role is accountable for supporting development and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs, tools and standards in line with Leo Global EHS policies. Responsibilities include training and communication in a manner that ensures compliance to regulatory and internal standards, as well as business needs. Key to this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with all levels of the organization from leadership to individual workers to support them in determining best in class methods to achieve compliance.
