The Microsoft Purview Team is responsible for a broad suite of data governance, data security, compliance, privacy, and risk management solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and multi-cloud environments.

We are looking to hire a Principal Product Manager, Small and Medium Business (SMB) for the Purview team. You will define the roadmap, align cross-organizational partners, and engage directly with customers and the market to surface unmet needs, synthesize telemetry and qualitative feedback, validate market opportunity, and evaluate tradeoffs and release criteria with Business Teams, and Engineering. You’ll translate these insights into prioritized investments, clear OKRs/KPIs and release criteria, and a roadmap.

Responsibilities
  • Drive strategic planning and execution of large-scale programs aligned with Purview’s objectives and compliance standards.

  • Define program scope, goals, and deliverables through collaboration with engineering, product, compliance, and customer success teams.

  • Lead data governance, privacy, and compliance initiatives across the organization.

  • Monitor and report program progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership with actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Foster innovation and operational excellence within program teams to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Mentor and develop other program managers, promoting knowledge sharing and talent growth.

  • Engage stakeholders and customers to gather feedback and ensure successful adoption of Purview solutions.

  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and business requirements, mitigating risks proactively.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve program milestones and resolve challenges effectively.

  • Champion best practices in program management, leveraging metrics and tools for efficiency and impact.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of experience in Product and Program Management, delivering technical products in partnership with engineering teams.

  • 6+ years of experience disrupting markets for a product, feature, or experience (competitive displacement, replacing established products).

  • 3+ years of experience in product marketing, partner marketing, or go-to-market strategy in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) space.
