Overview

We are seeking a Data Governance Team Lead to drive the development, implementation, and enforcement of enterprise data standards, policies, and processes. This role sits at the intersection of data governance, engineering, analytics, and compliance, and is responsible for ensuring that data assets are well‑governed, discoverable, compliant, and fit for use across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data governance frameworks, a strong working knowledge of modern data platforms, and the ability to translate complex and often ambiguous governance requirements into practical, scalable solutions. This role will lead a cross‑functional team and partner closely with engineering, analytics, product, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve enterprise‑wide data standards, policies, and governance processes across data lakes, warehouses, and analytical platforms.
  • Partner with data engineering and software engineering teams to implement governance controls through automation, tooling, and code review processes.
  • Oversee the logical maintenance and organization of data lakes and data warehouses, including naming conventions, data models, and lifecycle management.
  • Manage and enhance metadata management practices, including data catalogs, lineage, and documentation to improve data discoverability and trust.
  • Monitor, measure, and enforce data governance policies, proactively identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay current on internal standards and external data regulations (e.g., privacy, security, compliance) and translate requirements into actionable governance policies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to communicate governance expectations and align on implementation strategies.
  • Lead and support the transition of legacy data assets to modern governance standards and platforms.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of technical and non‑technical contributors, balancing governance rigor with evolving business needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance standards, policies, and processes in a complex data environment.
  • Solid foundational understanding of data engineering, data analytics, software engineering, and AI/ML concepts, tools, and workflows.
  • Experience working with modern data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, and metadata/catalog tools.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams, including both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ambiguous or nuanced governance topics to audiences ranging from engineers to executives.
  • Experience translating regulatory or compliance requirements into practical, scalable data governance solutions.
  • Comfortable operating in environments with evolving or flexible business requirements, balancing structure with pragmatism.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Compensation range for position is $130,500–145,000 DOE.
