Qualifications- Must have basic law enforcement academy or peace officer certification that is equivalent to the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy.
- Must have been sworn in as a police officer with less than 24 months of continuous service within the last four years.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Preferred education or experience:
- Associate of Arts degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field from an accredited college; or
- Completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college or university; or
- Two (2) years of military experience; or
- Two (2) years as a full‑time, sworn, law enforcement officer. ul>
- Ability to obtain the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy certification through the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission within two years of submitting application (military, corrections, federal and reserve officer training along with other training not approved by CJTC is not accepted).
- Must meet required physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements.
- Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license upon hire; out‑of‑state hires must have a valid driver’s license and obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license within Washington’s required timelines.
- Be at least 21 years of age when the eligibility list is certified.
- United States citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident.
- Successfully pass Redmond Police Department background investigation which includes a Chief’s interview, polygraph, psychological, extensive on‑site background investigation, drug screening, and medical exam.
