X was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today Space
X is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.
MICROELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN - 2ND SHIFT
Space
X is developing a low latency, broadband internet system called Starlink, which is the world’s largest constellation of highly advanced satellites operating in a low orbit around the Earth. As a Microelectronics Technician you will be joining a small team that supports the production of highspeed RF and optical modules that is instrumental in achieving high-speed internet for the world’s most advanced internet system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate microelectronics equipment with rigorous attention to detail, accuracy, precision, and efficiency in an ESD cleanroom environment.
- Produce high-mix, medium-volume high frequency RF products working with large number of unique tool sets and semiconductor dies with high tolerance stacking
- Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings as well as industry standard documentation such as MIL-Spec and JEDEC-Spec.
- Perform tool set up and machine calibration on die attach machine related to pick-up/stamping collet and dispense needle
- Perform tool set up and machine calibration on an automated ball bonder machine related to wire spool, capillary, and EFO (electric flame off) wand
- Execute DOE (design of experiment) on epoxy selection, plasma recipes, bondline thickness, and wirebond integrity
- Perform process verification by measuring epoxy void, wirebond loop height, and pull/shear force on die/wirebond using various metrology instruments such as CSAM, Xray, 3D profilometer, pull/shear tester, contact angle goniometer
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, RF, and manufacturing engineering team to improve manufacturing processes for microelectronics and future designs
- Perform root cause analysis and suggest corrective actions, such as machine, design, and tooling changes
- Initiate process improvements and collaborate with equipment and tooling suppliers on-site
