Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

THE ROLE

Have you wanted an opportunity to lead a Security Services Development team building foundational systems to power Leo's advanced satellite broadband telecom service? In this role you will lead a team building software for secure communications and strong authentication, enabling the confidentiality for our customers and security for our constellation. Our team drives the development, deployment, and operation of mission‑critical security systems for the Leo constellation and customer terminals.

We are looking for a technical Software Development Manager to lead a team of SDEs building services around public key infrastructure, certificate management, and identity management for Project Leo.

EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENT

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Work with our peer teams and customers to design security software systems and interfaces.
  • Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.
  • Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.
  • Aid in the design of mission critical systems in Amazon Leo.
  • Collaborate with your fellow team members to drive security outcomes through team's services into Amazon Leo.
  • Help on‑board and mentor new team members.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 7+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services experience
  • 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
