Position OverviewReporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting at Surfx Technologies, the Staff Accountant will support the oversight of financial and accounting operations while ensuring the timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions. In this role, you will also play a key part in driving system and process improvements across the business line.
Key Responsibilities- Ensures daily invoices are processed and sent to customers
- Handles invoicing for spare parts and accessories
- Processes service‑related billing (repairs and service calls)
- Posts daily cash receipts from all sources, including lockbox, wires/ACH, and credit cards
- Partners with Sales and Sales Order Processing
- Ensures all quotes and purchase orders are aligned
- Facilitates customer requests
- Reviews open sales orders to ensure timely invoicing
- Assists with accounts receivable collections
- Manages processing of vendor invoices and related payments, including issuing purchase orders and reconciling receipts prior to payment
- Prepares month‑end reconciliations for banking and other balance sheet accounts
- Maintains fixed asset schedules and reconciliations
- Assists with inventory management and reconciliation
- Prepares reconciliations for banking and other balance sheet accounts
- Processes bi‑weekly payroll transactions and prepares journal entries to reconcile month‑end payroll expenses and related balances
- Reviews and approves expense reports for final payment
- Administers changes to Concur infrastructure, including cost center assignments
- Recommends and implements system improvements and enhancements
- Assists in ensuring adherence to accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
- Contributes to the development of policies and procedures that streamline accounting processes, automate manual tasks, and enhance operational efficiency
- Works with external auditors during interim and year‑end financial audits, including preparing required schedules and documentation
- Supports risk assessments and monitors control issues to safeguard financial integrity and mitigate risks
- Assists with budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives
- Contributes to the accuracy and timeliness of both internal and external reporting requirements
- Provides assistance with tax‑related matters as needed
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of full‑cycle accounting experience
- Proven ability to evaluate and implement process and system enhancements that eliminate manual tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and drive completion of daily transactional activities through the month‑end close process
