As an Assistant Management Accountant, you'll assist in preparing accurate and timely management accounts and partner with budget owners to forecast their overhead costs. You'll also work closely with the Management Accountant and senior finance leaders to support the financial close process and provide robust financial analysis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with management accounting experience who enjoys collaborating with a range of stakeholders.

This is a full‑time, permanent role which will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations (minimum 40% of working week) and remotely within the UK.

You’ll help us by:
  • Conducting analysis and creating tools to improve business partnering capability, financial results generation and seamless forecasting.
  • Supporting the Management Accountant to deliver the data strategy for the Financial Accounting team.
  • Processing key accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments to ensure the financial integrity of the monthly result.
  • Ensuring key controls have been followed in the month end process.
  • Reporting monthly primary statement results for discussion with the Financial Controller/Director of Finance.
  • Producing key variance analysis (actual vs budget) for key areas of cost.
  • Producing other key MI reports to support the month end close and reporting (e.g. retail reports, creditor or stock analysis, wage reporting etc.).
  • Producing key KPI information to analyse the financial result and providing high level commentary on key movements.
  • Producing ad‑hoc analysis required by the Management Accountant, Financial Controller or Director of Finance to support the financial result.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships and strong relationships with senior managers and their teams.
  • Communicating finance data to non‑finance professionals to enable the internal customer to understand and assess financial performance and make future decisions.
  • Playing a key role in finance change projects, ensuring that projects and initiatives are delivered on time and deliver the required result for the business.
The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:
  • AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
  • ACCA/CIMA studier would be desirable.
  • Experience with in a finance function, preferably within management accounting.
  • Ability to interrogate numbers in order to drive insight from data and inform business decisions.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and some knowledge on how to create meaningful reports from your analysis.
  • Experience of financial systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information in clear, non‑technical language.
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at different levels across the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
  • Collaborative approach with colleagues across finance and the wider business.
  • Proactive and keen to learn, with an interest in developing a career in finance business partnering.
  • Commercial understanding of the key sales and profit drivers would be desirable.
  • Proven financial analysis skills with knowledge of planning and budgeting cycles would be desirable.
  • Experience of Power BI would be desirable.
