Longreach House is the mental health hospital for the west of Cornwall and is home to two acute psychiatric wards providing assessment and treatment for adults experiencing mental health crisis.
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer exciting opportunities for experienced Healthcare Assistants and for those looking to start their career in healthcare as a Care Support Assistant, with clear development into a Healthcare Assistant role.
We are committed to supporting and developing our staff and can offer roles at Band 2 or Band 3, depending on experience, with training, supervision and learning opportunities to help you progress.
This role is available on Carbis and Perran ward. Shift patterns will include day, night and twilight hours.
Main duties of the job- Supporting patients with personal care and daily activities
- Promoting dignity, independence and well‑being
- Supporting therapeutic and recovery‑focused ward activities
- Observing and reporting changes in patients' mental and physical health
- Working closely with nurses, doctors and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Maintaining a safe, caring and supportive ward environment

Person Specification Education, Qualifications and Relevant Experience- Willingness and competency to complete the Care Certificate within set timeframe
- Level 2 qualification or experience in a care environment
- Experience with people experiencing mental health problems
- Willing to assist and support patients, carers and staff as needed
- Ability to cope with a varied workload
- Awareness of mental health conditions and their impact on individuals
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
