Redwood City School District is seeking a Clerical Substitute. The district takes pride in its dedicated workforce and strong connection with students, families, and the community.

The School Office Assistant I classification performs a variety of clerical assistance duties for an elementary school or Child Development Center office, including maintaining attendance and registration records, providing first aid assistance, and translating and interpreting documents and communications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical assistance duties involving frequent and responsible contact with students, staff, and the general public.
  • Provide assistance to an Office Manager in the operation of the school or program office.
  • Maintain attendance and registration records.
  • Provide first aid assistance in the absence of health personnel and according to established guidelines.
  • Answer phones and take messages or receive needed information.
  • Compile and maintain statistical records and reports relating to assigned office or program.
  • Operate a computer terminal to input and update data.
  • Maintain appropriate files, forms, cards, and records.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by clerical training.
  • One year of clerical experience involving frequent contact with the public.
  • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment knowledge.
  • Record-keeping techniques knowledge.
  • Operation of a computer terminal knowledge.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary knowledge.
